Oh, I know it's a daffodil, or, probably more correctly, a jonquil. The mystery is how it got where it is, smack in the middle of my back yard (or mowed weed field, if you prefer.) I didn't plant it there, and it is not like any of the daffys that I have in my gardens. It wasn't there last year, so how did it get there?
Well, no matter. After its leave have browned, it is going to get dug up and planted in my garden, where every good daffy belongs.

Cool!
No idea where it came from, did you get a load of dirt to level a spot out?
It's pretty, think not one of the "wild" version.
squirrels sometimes aid transplant
I bet a squirrel dug it out somewhere and hid the bulb in your garden lol..my girlfriend planted hundred tulips last year, and maybe half came out as she watched the squirrels digging the bulbs out faster than she could plant them, and the neighbours have tuplips all over their lawn, smack middle of the lawn, not in a flowerbed but in the grass....
I bet you all are right, and it was a squirrel. Hmmmm, maybe from next door. I'll have to check out their daffys, and see if they have any like it.
LOL! Maybe you should get on the squirrels good side and get a whole bed full! :)
LOL, Sharon! If the amount of sunflower seeds that I provide to the squirrels is any indication, I should be on their permanent good side.
Well what a nice sunny surprise anyway :)

I got one like this too right in the middle of my veg plot, no idea how they get there, am suspicious of squirrels though!
