As I was driving along yesterday, I passed a big field. Of course, I had to take a sidewise look, to see if there was anything interesting. That's when I saw it, right on the edge of the field -- goldenrod in bloom.
There was a safe place to park by the side of the country road, so I pulled over and took a few pictures. When I got home, I did some research. It's Early Goldenrod, and it starts blooming in mid-Summer. Pretty stuff, actually. But, still, a reminder to enjoy Summer while we can, because, all too soon, Fall and Winter will be here again.

Haven't seen any of the wild goldenrods blooming here yet. One of my hybrid cultivars, Baby Gold, has already finished blooming and Firecracker is blooming now. Some plants are way ahead of their normal schedule here. Makes me wonder what will be blooming in September.

You are good at recognizing flowers, I like that. I need to study them..:). Gerry
I almost feel like the seasons are shifting. I noticed that the spiders have built their huge nests in the trees about 2-3 weeks early.
I wonder what all this early spring flowering will do to the summer flowering and then the fall flowering...is everything gonna be early? Well Winter can put that back in order..i rather have that later than sooner.
I'm almost wishing for fall. I can't say I've appreciated the heat wave this summer.
Comb through those goldenrod blooms - you might find a nasty surprise. Do a Google search for goldenrod sweethearts to see what I mean :)
Blech, wiseacre! Those things are just plain nasty looking. They look like something prehistoric.
I know that Goldenrod is thought of as a weed, but I have to admit to having it mixed in with my daisies and coneflowers--It looks pretty in the back and is some nice color when it blooms.
I can't believe it's already past the middle of July! Noooooo! Summer, slow down!
