Out of My Rear Window 12/5/10

I got home from the track around 1:30 this afternoon.  Hustled and got some outside chores done, and then came inside and took these pictures.  As you can see, we got snow.  In fact, it has been snowing quite steadily for quite a while now.  Outside, the cars are moving very slowly, and the headlights catch white sheets of snow.   The yard has taken on it's Winter persona.
Before I took this picture, I crept as close to the window as I could, without moving the cat's viewing chair.  I wanted to catch these pictures.  I had just come inside, after shoveling snow, and throwing cracked corn and sunflower seeds on the ground.  I also gave all of the feeders a good shake.
It didn't take the morning doves long to find it.

A house finch and the usual gang of goldfinches weren't far behind.

And, one lonely squirrel joined the party.
They say that, by tomorrow morning, we'll have another three to six inches.  I can't wait to see what it looks like!

Brrrr! Bet the wildlife were thrilled to have you come home!

I guess East TN is getting some snow, I hope it doesn't make it this far!

Fun pictures!

Until you stated blogging about rescuing horses from the track, I would have never imagined those beauties would ever need rescuing, just unbelivable.

Oh Joanna, it is a sad story to tell. Louise and her group have a VERY good program going.

Mourning Doves don't come in flocks here. They would be a fun yard addition

I love their quiet cooWOoo oo

Makes coming home and tromping out into the snowy yard so worth it to see these little guys filling up! :)

I don't know why, but your goldfinches crack me up!

Those wee birdies are so lucky to have you giving them good food! I like the one dove that looks like she has hair blowing in the wind.

Oh my gosh...that little dusting of unexpected snow we rec'd on Sat. is nothing....I filled up my feeders on Saturday morning and again yesterday afternoon. Everyone is very hungry.
I restock my birdseed and suet at Lowe's so we're good.

Love those doves! And finches. Reminds me, I better get out and give our feeders a shake!

No mourning doves here, but there were always one or two (no flocks there either) in our Los Angeles garden. I love their soft sound. And I'm so thrilled to see snow in your part of the world. I have been waiting to see what your yard would look like. Lucky birds to be in your neighborhood.--Inger
