Out of My Rear Window 8/29/10

Such a beautiful late summer day.  There is a little bit of a nip in the air, but it will warm up quickly.  A perfect day to get out and do something.

The moon is still shining in the bright summer sky.

And the bright colors of a goldfinch at the feeder tell us that there are sunny, warm and beautiful days still ahead.

A couple of catch up notes.  I heard from the DEC about the black swan.  It is, indeed an escapee.  There are no known colonies of black swans in the wild.  That's a good thing, because we don't need another invasive species around New York State.

And, that lovely chestnut mare that I posted about a couple of days ago has found a home.  She will be going to West Virginia, to make lovely sport horse babies!

I'm coming up to nibble at those yummy sunflower seeds! mmmmmmm mmmmmmm! Nice photograph of the moon! The coyotes and one very large dog were howling at the moon a few evenings ago. Scary for little goats!

Good Sunday Morning, Louise!
I love your back yard!
So... are the proper people going to go look for the escapee?
Glad that beautiful Mare had a good home!
Enjoy your day!

Sharon, I doubt if anything will be done about the swan. Money is tight here in NYS, as it is everywhere, and I doubt if any will be spent to try to capture it. As for me, nope, not this lady. Those things, black or white, can hurt you.

Hi Louise!! Just when I thought all was quiet, we had a HUGE flock of black-birds this morning (not Starlings) and I've no idea if they are migrating somewhere or what was going on, but they were everywhere--I've not seen that before.
I hope the placement of the mare is a good thing?
~Enjoy your Sunday!~

I love that yet another horse found a good home. She was so beautiful, what a color. And so is your backyard. Soo green and that yellow bird in the midst of it. Lovely place you have there even if the views are not as long as what I have here. Hope you are having a great Sunday, Inger

Oh my! I'm so far behind...black swans? A lovely Chestnut Sport Horse?

I'm glad that the endings are all good, though.

Interesting to hear about the swan, thanks for the update. That's terrific, about the mare. Great she'll have a good home.
I like your blue-sky-moon!
