Duckies, Doggies and a Boat

I did my walk on the Orange Trail today. I was hot and sticky afterwards, so I decided to drive to the Lake. I was glad I did. Activity is up on the beach, and there are boats in the water. There are also Mallard Ducks.

Just a swim at the spa.

Babies!

The hens and drakes are easy to tell apart, but this one puzzles me. Is it a different kind of duck, or just a hen who happens to be especially dark?

Compare that to this picture of a pair of Mallards. See how much lighter the female is.

More duckies.

These folks look like they are having fun out in the water.

I had fun, too. It was about 10 degrees cooler there and there was a nice breeze coming off of the lake. I do, however, think that this guy had the most fun of all.

Water, a stick and a human to throw it. What more could any black lab want?

Those are some amazing pics! Love the ducks with the green heads. The color is so vibrant. Watching the dog was so much fun.

Labs are definitely water dogs, that's for sure. They're always such fun to watch during their water sports.

Oh, that water looks so nice and cool! I could use a refreshing dip about now! Pretty dog! I have no idea what the dark ducks are - I should - but I just don't know! Sounds like a great time!

Maybe a mallard hybrid? It happens.

With all the heat we've been having here in Virginia, I think I would have been tempted to jump in with that pup! :-)

I might jump in that water if you waded in with a bag of peppermints!
