I went to Wegman's yesterday. My "I want" tree was in bloom. Every year, when this tree come into blossom, I covet one for myself. But, I don't know what it is. I have even gone so far as to ask the folks at that Wegman's, but they haven't a clue, and looked at me like I was crazy for even asking. So, if anyone knows what kind of tree this is, would you please tell me?
Sigh, then I have to find a place in the yard for one.

it looks like a type of flowering Lilac, did you smell it? My neighbor has one that looks much like it. I don't think theirs has been pruned
Absolutely no idea. Pretty though! Have a great day! :-)
Do those white little flowers turn into dark blue berries afterwards?
I don't think it's a lilac -- too late in the season and the shape and bark are wrong. And, I've never noticed dark blue berries, but, then, I've never looked.
We have a tree that looks something like that up here.....it's name a "White Fringe" tree....maybe that it!
Enjoy
Have not a clue to what kind it is other than it sure is pretty. Do the flowers have a scent?
Lousie...search Hollunderbluete on the internet and compare.....maybe just maybe lol. I mean I don't know trees as well as I know flowers lol...which means not at all, but that is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture. I don't know what the english word would be.
Ok taking another wild stab at this Louise, but hubby just dragged me to the local nusery, and I saw what I thought looked like the tree from your pictures, and it was from the lilac family and called "Ivory Silk"
Tina and BlueRidge Boomer -- both of those are close, but not that tree. I don't think the White Fringe Tree would grow this far north, and Hollunderbluete looks very close, but the leaves are wrong. I'll keep looking.
Thanks, guys, for trying.
I'm pretty sure I know this tree--It looks like what is called Japanese Tree Lilac or Ivory Silk Tree Lilac--Something like that. I'm sure you can find it by goggling either one of those names--I'll look too.
Interesting that our Wegman's (by the way I LOVE WEGMANS!!!)has these same trees in their parking lots.
Louise, here's a link I found...

That's it! And it looks like Upupaepops was right in that it is a kind of lilac. Thank you so much, Kim! Looks like this tree isn't for me, though, as it requires full sunlight, and that doesn't exist in large enough quantities in my yard.
Poo!
I'd say Kim at Golden Pines wins the prize....gorgeous tree!
