It's 5:30 AM, for Pete's Sake!

So, I figure that one of the perks of being retired is that I get to sleep in. Not really late, but, 7 AM is two hours later than the 5 AM that I used to get up at. It's been great, up to a couple of days ago. I've had to have my bedroom windows open, to get it cooled down and the last couple of days, there has been this horrible cacophony in my yard.

It's no mystery, it's crows. Apparently, Ma and Pa crow have raised two bouncing babies this year. Said babies are now fledged, but not quite willing to admit that Ma and Pa aren't the sole food providers any more. They sit in the trees and they squawk, and caw, and, I swear, scream. This gets Ma and Pa excited, and they join in the chorus. At 5:30 in the AM. Consistently. Unrelentingly. Until even the cats mumble and grumble about the noise. Until I finally pull myself out of bed, slam down the windows and figure that, as long as I'm up, I might as well stay up. I suppose it's only nature, but, right now, I just wish that they would SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg why do these birds have to make so much racket and get up at those stupid early times. I hear ya, nice chirping can be annoying at times, but crows....well I don't think I have to say much...except it's not your typical songbird early wake up call lol.....

Oh dear

The upside is, in this hot weather this is the time to get out for your walks, you can enjoy the cool. Plus all birds are more active in the moring so you can hone your skilss

and come home and take a decadent siesta

They sure are a noisy bunch! There are several pairs of parents here and I can relate to the noise! Hopefully the kids will learn how to care for themselves and move out!

Crows, disgustingly noisy! I agree, no sleeping with that!

No, no sleeping with them "singing" in front of your window... I feel with you...

Hee hee! My lady says a gorgeous Wood Thrush sings around 4:30 to serenade her awake. It's so lovely she doesn't mind.

I have what looks like a mama raven with two youngsters sleeping on my electric wire that goes from the pole to the house. My car was parked underneath --- it has been moved! At least they are not noisy.--Inger

Try living with Great Horned Owls and coyotes out your window. I love the wildlife, but not the sleepless nights.
