Hen Party

Turkey see, turkey do, I guess. Ever since that one hen found out that my yard was a good place to sunbathe, many of the girls have been congregating in my yard to do a little grooming, and then soak up some rays.

I have heard that turkeys lack intelligence - maybe not!!! Lovely sunbathers! (Great shots!)

I wonder why you don't have any chicks yet. Can't believe they've grown up and left the parent so early.

What great pictures, they looked so relaxed!! I guess they know a great place for a "spa day" when they see one!!

Marnie, In the winter I get a flock of about 15 or 16 turkeys at the feeder every day they can make it (dumb birds don't seem to realize that they could fly there). In the warm weather, they split up. I think these four are the "maiden aunts" who don't have any chicks. I don't usually see the new crop until July or August, when they are all feathered out and the only way you can tell that they are new is that they are much smaller, and quite fearless.

Oh wow! I love the turkeys! We have wild turkeys out here, but they are pretty elusive.
