The First Day
Today is my first full day of retirement. I have been waiting for this day to come, very eagerly, for a couple of years now. When I woke up this morning, without hearing the alarm clock go off, I smiled excitedly.
I figure that adjusting to retirement will be fun, frustrating and exciting. And adjusting to in in Western New York State, with all of its' pluses and minuses, will be a challenge at time. So here is my attempt to chronicle that adjustment to my new life.
These four will be seen quite a bit, I think. I don't think I'm quite a crazy cat lady yet, but some people may disagree, thinking that four cats are entirely too many. They are a big part of my life, and add love and interest.
The bottom picture is Becky Cat. I have had her the longest, and she is my heart cat. She is fey and shy and I am definitely her person.
Next up is Gina, my oldest cat. She is the Lady of the crew, very dignified and correct.
Rachael is the baby of the house. Quite a chubby little baby, too. I think she lives on air, and I am always trying to get the weight down, unsuccessfully.
And, then there is Leon, the Marmalade Man. He's big, he's bold, and he can be a real pain in the neck. But, he is my best cuddler and snuggler.
So that's my family. And here I am, about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of my life. I am very aware of how lucky I am. I have a nice house, good friends and plenty to do. I want to make the most of my life, from this point on. I want to enjoy, observe and be of service to those around me. Time will tell if I succeed.
