Can you see the yellow mums just behind the red geraniums in the bottom right of the picture? They are just beginning to open. Other than the fact that my niger seed feeder has been mobbed lately, after not being used much all summer, nothing much has changed.
My little vacation was lovely, and I got home yesterday afternoon. I went to the North Country of New York State, and, from there, we explored some of the Adirondacks. I suspect that a number of my blogs this coming week will be about that.
I have a lot of catching up to do, and will get at it after I get the house back in order. That was my one big disappointment. The young man from next door was supposed to be taking care of the cats, and he did a lousy job. The most annoying thing he did was that, instead of taking the dirty litter outside and putting it in the garbage can, he put it in my closed waste basket in the pantry. Any of you who have cats know that isn't going to work. When I got home, the whole house reeked. I'm still trying to get the smell out of here. That young man will not be given the opportunity to care for my cats again.

No - what that guy did was not smart.. I am sorry he did such a lousy job. I know how that must have smelled. Try putting some baking soda in the closet (it is supposed to suck in the back odors - I also heard that lighting a match does the trick as well.
I am back from my holidays as well so I have a lot of catching up to do, too.
I'm glad you had a nice trip but sorry that you arrived home to a stinky house! Your backyard looks yummy as always!
Wow, I guess that kid didn't have much experience caring for cats, anyone knows that you don't put the litter in the trash can. Peeeuuuuu!
I can relate to how you feel about the kitty litter. I have always had cats in the past, but none now. How nice that you took a trip. I have been a bit out of touch lately, but hope to catch up too this coming week.--Inger
Oh wow...not a pleasant smell to come home to! Hopefully he took care of the cats other needs okay though. I've heard that wadded up newspapers will absorb smells too (of course you can't fill your entire house with them, but maybe some in the vicinity that the wastebasket was at.) Otherwise it's good to hear that you had a nice little get away. I look forward to some lovely posts about it.

I hope you tuned that guy in!
A good animal caregiver really makes a vacation much more enjoyable. That's unfortunate. Glad you got away for a bit though.
