First of all, thanks to everyone for their kind comments yesterday. I rarely get that drained, defeated feeling, and all of you really helped me pull myself out of the funk I was in. Today, I'm ready to go again, having reminded myself that we lose some, but we help place a lot more.
It is a very dark and dreary morning here. At 10:30 AM, it's just reaching the point where I don't have to turn on the lights when I move from room to room.
The birds are crowding the feeders, as they have done for the past few days. It's as if they have realized that Winter is coming, and they had better start fattening up.
Well, you can't see them very well in that shot, so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it!
My microwave died last night, so today is going to be devoted to finding a new one. It was old, and didn't owe me a thing, so I'm not too upset. In fact, ever since I set a bag of microwave popcorn smoldering a few years ago (and had to air out the house in the middle Winter), I've been waiting for it to die, because the smoke stained the inside badly and wouldn't come out. Every time I opened the thing I got a little case of the icks, even though I knew it was perfectly clean.

Oh no!! The smell of burnt popcorn is horrendous! Yuk. Icky. Awful.
There are so many microwaves on the market these days. Well, along with everything else there is too much of one product. Anyway, have fun picking out your next microwave. I had to buy a new one six years ago. Got it for 99 dollars and it is still doing great.
Happy you are feeling better. :)
Please keep us up to date on the horses.
You need a sunny day and a good walk.
My son burnt popcorn in mine, I was not happy, it was a new one and took about a year to quit smelling it. It was a dandy microwave and now my son has it (and I have that (BLEEP) thing over the stove!
Happy hunting!
You can only do what you can. The comment about the starfish in your previous post is true - you make a difference.
Love your photos - it's so interesting seeing the seasons on the other side of the world! Good luck with the microwave replacement.
I'm looking forward to seeing your backyard turn into fall. I bet the colors are beautiful. Ihope you found a nice microwave. I couldn't live without mine, that's for sure.--Inger
Don't get me started about burned popcorn in the microwave, my husband did that yesterday...grrrrr....Made my hackles go up!
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. You really make a difference for these horses, and I'm hopeful that you'll still be able to for the ones you told us about yesterday.
We've been having a lot of birds at our feeders too--I need to get the winter one set up as the cold and the lack of food will be here before we all know it!
Hee. That's funny, about the popcorn. Hope you found a nice new one! I put a little birdseed out through the summer, but I guess it is time to start adding to the menu.
