I think it's a waste, too, Cat, but, sigh, I'm not the best of housekeepers, and I really need to kick myself in the butt and get some things done. I am making some soup, though, matzo ball, from Linda May's blog. Yum!
Oh, and the flower is Joe Pye Weed. Pretty isn't it? I took that picture of some in the wild, but you can grow it in the garden, and I think I'm going to do so this year.
