I'm back, I think. I'm not going to go into why I have been so erratic lately. Suffice to say that there were some problems, and that I'm now in "suck it up and get on with your life" status.
I'll just post a few catch up pictures. First of all, this funny fellow is one of the mallard pair who, until this last week or so, has visited my feeder several times a day. He apparently feels that any body of water is good for floating, no matter how small. I haven't seen the pair in a few days, but I hope that they are off taking care of little ones.
The June flowers are blooming.
Wild Rose
Peony
Red Weigela, or, as my family has always called it "The Cardinal Bush"
Lupine
Some of you may remember the new garden I dug around the mailbox last year. It looked pretty puny. I think it's improved this year.
And, last, the picture I'm going to use as my new profile picture. I finally got up the nerve to let people see what I really look like, warts and all.
It feels good to be back.

Louise! HI!
Glad to see you back..and see you! :)
back and badder than ever!!! :) nice to SEE you!!! :)
love the mallard. too darn cute! and i'm so glad you're back with us again - back where you belong! :)
before i have fear of growing old but after years of being with my adopted elders as my parents and grandparents (i work as a personal health support worker), i never thought i would see the beauty beyond wrinkles and beyond sagging skin. their stories of the past just like mine is priceless. i have come to embrace life as it is, the stages of it and the beauty of it. the only fear i have now is, will there be another JJ who would feel the same when i'm already old.
on the lighter note... same here, picking up the pieces and re-assessing life stage. maybe just like that first picture, any small comfort to ease up the pain will always be a treasure...
nice post...

ps. i don't mean to offend anyone who's gonna ready my comment...
None taken, JJ. I don't mind the wrinkles and the grey hair. Could do without a little of the blubber, though.
Welcome back Louise, it was good to see your post this morning. Your little garden you put out last year is stunning, and I think it's pretty cool how good you are to your wild life friends--their own pool even! :-)

Great to see you back!! Boom & Gary of the ermilon River, Canada.
I was thrilled to see your comment this morning on my blog. It's amazing how we come to care and worry about each other when we don't hear. And it is so great to SEE you, for real.
Good morning to our beautiful friend Louise!!! We are thrilled to see you back and are doing a happy dance. Your garden is a bloom with brillant colors. Everything looks beautiful. We cracked up at the mallard in the tub of water...that is his wadding pool I guess.
Hugs Madi and Mom

So glad to see you're back Louise, and whatever ups and downs you've been going through are 'done and dusted'.
I like your new profile picture, and now I know who I'm visiting with you sweet lady !

The Peony and Lupine are very nice. The mailbox garden looks great. The heat here in Alabama is wilting everything already. Upper 90's everyday for the last 3 weeks. Great post.
Louise I have been quietly concerned about your being gone. I wanted to touch bases with you but I knew you were working out some "stuff" and knew that you might appreciarte privacy.
But I am glad it is going OK and that you are back. I look forward to seeing how the meadow is doing and what new discoveries you find. Your garden is looking great.
Any sign of baby turkey???
