Out of My Rear Window 5/19/11

Happy Father's Day, everyone!  My Dad died in 1990, but I think about him every day.  Here's a picture taken of him in 1938.  He was 35.  Kind of a handsome dude, though, I think I'm very glad I got my Mom's hair.
Things at the feeder are as busy as ever.  The Turkey Ladies are around.  Last night, I saw all five of them, so I'm afraid that there are no poults this year.  It was a very wet Spring, and wee Turkeys don't do well in the damp.
Mr. Tom is still trying, though.  I don't know how late Turkeys can successfully hatch and raise a family, but he's ready to give it another shot.
After I went out and put some fresh food down, though, his mind settled on the other important thing in his life -- eating.
The other denizens of the yard are around, also.  The squirrels are busy.  Just goes to show you that even the best, super duper, guaranteed to stymie the squirrels feeder is raidable, if you work at it hard enough.
A squirrel enjoys the fruits of his labor.
A Grackle enjoys an early morning libation.
While, nearby, another Grackle and a Red-winged Blackbird enjoy a neighborly breakfast.
Mr. Cardinal tells everybody to beat it, this is his feeding area.  Sigh, I see I didn't get the lid on that one feeder correctly.  I'll have to fix it the next time I go out.
While an English Sparrow and a Mourning Dove pay absolutely no attention to him.

It's going to be a lovely day here, another one just perfect for pottering around in the garden.  I hope that your day is lovely as well, and that you get to do what you most enjoy.

Great pic of your dad!

My husband caught sight of some poults a few days ago -- I'm hoping to see them too.

LOL I know why Mr. Tom is having trouble with the ladies...his tummy is his main concern.

I love the red winged black birds...

Your grass is so green we are dry as a bone in Raleigh,

Hi Louise!! I have missed your Sunday posts and it's good to see what's hanging around your house today! I enjoyed the tribute to your Dad! My dad passed in 1990 as well--Sometimes it seems like a long time ago, other times it doesn't.

Also, thank-you for your thoughtful comments you've left on my blog!
