How Does Your Garden Grow?

The flowers of Spring are gone, but, following in their wake are all of the glowing flowers of Summer.  My garden is beginning to be graced with them.
Sundrops, to me, always herald the arrival of the warm weather.  Their glowing faces reflect the sun.

Scabiosa, or pincushion flower gives a hint of blue delicacy.  Of course, these pictures also show that this gardener needs to get out there and rid the garden, again, of two of the major invaders around here, sour grass and violets.

The begonias that I planted this Spring are now blooming profusely.  For some reason, they're not one of my favorite plants, but they do add color, and do wonderfully in hanging baskets.
I just added this coneflower to my garden a couple of weeks ago.  I had been lusting after it all Spring, but thought it was much too expensive.  Apparently, everyone else did too, because it went on sale.  It was still expensive, but, I think it will prove to be worth it.  The variety is called "Firebird" and it certainly seems to be living up to its name.

And, finally, a flower that isn't in bloom yet.  Daylily fan that I am, I eagerly await blooming season each year.  This year is particularly exciting because, last year I added quite a few new varieties, and can't wait to see them in bloom.  Many of the plants are now showing scapes (stems).  I can't help myself, each morning I'm out there, counting how many there are, and waiting eagerly for the first one to burst into bloom.  The white spots you see on the leaves aren't fungus, they're residue of the deer repellent that I have to use to keep them from eating the scapes.

Come on, babies, bloom already!

I am always amazed at how people can actually grow a flower garden! Yours is really nice, I like the begonia!

The sundrops are beautiful....do you remember the soft drink call Sundrops? My uncle used to deliver Sundrops to the grocery stores. In the summer my cousin and I would ride with him to make deliveries.

Your Day lilies are going to be magnificent.
Happy Friday and give Miss Gina a kissy on her head for being such a good companion.

Isn't this time of year exciting! Your garden is a little ahead of ours. We used to have coneflowers but they have disappeared. I really like the variety you have.

I know what you mean about day lilies....they are so bright, perky and cheerful.

Love the fire coneflower! You have enough flowers for your hair and this old hippie also :).

Love that coneflower - it's radioactive! Last year I enjoyed the daylillies on blogs so much that I planted a test one this year. We'll see how it does out here on the prairie.

What a beautiful garden you have!! I so enjoyed my stroll - I mean, scroll - through it!
And thanks so much for asking about my dear Edward! He is doing great! He suffered a bit of a neurological problem from his last operation and sometimes wets his bed...but for the most part, that's it. He runs and jumps (even jumped up onto the kitchen counter last week - and does so every day now - which makes things a bit interesting around here!) and is just as adorable as can be. Such a great character. He doesn't let a "little" thing like missing his tail and bowel problems get him down!
Thanks so much for asking!
Many blessings to you!

Very pretty garden shots! I do hate the way photographs seem to enlarge the weeds that I never even noticed in my garden! Won't be long till daylilies now. I have a couple of blooms on some oldies, but the main show is waiting in the wings.
