Out of My Rear Window 3/27/11

There's still snow on the ground, but, at least there is sun to go with it.

The usual cast of characters is hanging around.  There is, of course, an ever-present squirrel.
Mourning Dove
Red-winged Blackbird
Grackle, showing the yellow eye.
And, probably, the sight of the day, a Red-bellied Woodpecker pair.  This is the first time I have seen them on my new suet feeder, but, it's obviously not the first time they have been there, judging by how empty the holes are.  I have since been out and stuffed new suet in there.
Inside, the cats are enjoying the sunshine.  The three sun-worshipers are out on the porch.

Leon
While Becky prefers staying in the safety of the living room, all warm and cozy on her heated pad.
Here's hoping that you're having a very lovely Sunday.

Heaven on earth for your kitties. A room with a view or a heated bed... Take your pick...

Glad you have a little clearing for your birds and squirrels to feed. :)

Good Sunday, Louise!

What a perfect shot of that squirrel! It looks like he posed for you!

Do you ever get the urge to take a shop vac out there and suck everything up and sift out all those shells?

The cats really are enjoying their creature comforts, don't blame them a bit!

Actually, Sharon, I raked all of the winter crap I could when we had that warm spell. It's not too bad right now. What you see on the ground there is mainly today's feeding, that I had just put down about a half hour before. Corn and some sunnies go right on the ground, so the feeders are left free for the birds. And, when the weather is nice, I do try to get out there about once a week and get the junk cleaned up.

Looks like everybody around you is enjoying the sunshine!

Hi Louise one thing about a March snow storm is it is short lived!!! Yay...we see blue skies and ground.

Your kitties are beautiful. I know they must be loving the sun.

Happy Sunday and 4 days to go for Mom. YES she is excited...she is hoping this week is fast. MOL

Very nice shot of the pair of red-bellied woodpeckers!

Leon looks a bit indignant about having his picture taken.

HI Louise!! Your Sunday does look like an enjoyable one, and I'm glad the sun was out for you too!!

I love the woodpeckers but could do without so many Grackles scarfing down all the food I put out...

OK Louise! When is this snow going to take a powder? It's supposed to be warm enough to melt this stuff.
I would love to have a porch like yours...our critters would love it. That photo of Leon is a knockout!

I think grackles are beautiful birds -- heck, I was even admiring a starling today.

I am surprised that your cats were editorializing at the birds through the window. They sure looked comfy, maybe it was just too much effort. Zzzzzz...

Hi Louise....thank you for your kind comments on 'our' kitchen. When our old kitchen was gutted in 2006, I had to live with my g-parents because mom was afraid I'd try to explore the studs. At that time, I was not thrilled to be getting a new kitchen but now I like it because it has better snoopervising spots.

What a lovely, sunny room! Ideal for cats!
You have quite a bunch coming to you feeders there! I saw another type of woodpecker today -- don't know if it was hairy or downey, but I missed my shot ... the camera focused on some stupid branch LOL
