The large flocks of Mallards that visited my feeder have gone, probably because the bay and the lake are opening up a bit, as things melt. More natural foods are becoming available again. But, I still have one couple coming faithfully every night. Mr. and Mrs. spend quite a bit of time gathering up the bits of corn and sunflower seeds that the small birds and the squirrels have left.
Tonight, I looked out of my window and got a bit of a laugh. Mallards are, after all, water birds, and it seems that Mr. and Mrs. were making the most of the small puddle that had formed in the bird feeding area.

If I was her, I'd find another drake that could give me a bigger puddle to swim in! :-)
How very sweet !
I imagine they take what they can get ...
I'm smiling at Kim's comment :)
This is such a wonderful shot !

Oh, Louise, that's so cute! Maybe they are Honeymooners?
floating the seeds for easy pickings.
If i was her, i would be very happy with what my hubby brings/gets me, but it would be sure nice to have a bigger puddle...
Thanks for sharing

Too funny...looks like they are trying to drain it dry!
they are so cute!!!! you have the best backyard buddies!
Hey, it's open water! Do they paddle in it?
ah, sweet little things. a perfect pair! ;)
Their puddle is going to go away if we get all the SNOW we are supposed to get today! A foot at my house and up to ten inches at yours?! WOW.
That's so cute! They often look funny, when they take advantage of any little puddle that's around, or a ditch. Last year we have one male on a big parking lot outside a supermarket. He stayed around for a long time, even the local newspaper had him in a picture.
The supermarket is inbetween the park and a big marsh that is like a bird sanctuary.
Happy Sunday Louise!!
Oh how funny. I guess MR. and MRS. are feeling the stink of gas prices too so they are 'making do' with the itty bitty pond near by.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Hey, it may be little, but it's WET, huh?
