No snow! I've gotten some of the yard raked, but, as you can see, I still have to move those great clods of earth that the plow guy left behind. Not today, though, as the temperature right now is 23 F and they will be frozen to the ground.
The squirrels are breakfasting.
The grackles are back.
And, the redpolls are still eating me out of house and home. As you can see by this picture, there isn't a goldfinch in sight. I hope that they're just hiding while they're molting, and not scared away by the redpolls.
Have a happy Sunday, everyone!

wow that snow comes and goes
Hurray!!! Spring is almost there! Love the redpolls - have been seeing them a bunch in bloggerland (but have never seen one in person). :)
Good Sunday Morning, Louise!
I heard "awe" music when I saw your back yard. What a wonderful sight for the first day of Spring! Love the many squirrels!
Such a lovely soft spring light! Does the heart good to behold it.
Oh, my gosh. What is that green stuff out there? Even though we don't have snow our grass is still very dry and yellow. We have a few green blades peeking up here and there... but not many!
Lots of green there! We also have grackle type birds here.
Pookey sends her love to the squirrels :)
Oh, I didn't know it was the first day of spring and here it's trying to snow! I love, love, love the squirrel picture. Those bushy tails are so adorable. I hope you will have a good Sunday and week ahead and that everything will work out with your volunteer work.--Inger
Good action in the yard. My RedPolls are not so numerous now, but there is a forecast for snow tonight which may bring them back. You guys in the south won't get that of course. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
The squirrels are so cute! That's a lot of redpolls. Happy 1st day of Spring!
It really is starting to look a little like spring for you Louise!! I 'thought' I saw a goldfinch today, but can't be sure, it didn't stay long!
Yippee no snow on you ground and the sun is shining. I expect all your critters enjoyed the outdoor buffet.

Your yard is looking pretty good I think, for just coming out of winter. I'm surprised at how 'hungry' the birds still are here. Usually by now they would be leaving a bit of seed in the feeders, but they are still chowing it all down. Are redpolls similar/same family as purple finches?

Love the colour of Grackles! Almost florescent! Nice without the snow for a change.
Your yard looks so different now. And very busy!
Just read your most recent post. If I were you, I'd keep scrolling back down to enjoy the warmth and beauty. I hope the earth appreciated the raking. Crazy how the weather can change so quickly in Spring as it adjusts....Here today and gone tomorrow!
