Mute Swans

I went searching for migrating ducks and geese today.  Didn't find any.  But, I did find two very cooperative Mute Swans on Irondequoit Bay.  These two are obviously used to humans, because they let me get very, very close to them.  They're an invasive species, but, they sure are beautiful, dirty heads from mucking around in the junk at the bottom of the Bay or not.
Very, very pretty invaders.

They are very pretty! Very graceful looking, even with the dirty heads.

You pretty much cannot take a picture of a swan that is not totally elegant of line and form

Absolutely! Dirty or not!

Very pretty! But they can be very dangouroes (spelled wrong i know!) when they have babies or when you come to close to them.

Thanks for sharing

Hi Louise!! What beautiful pictures!!! I've heard swans can be a bit moody--I guess with their beauty, they can be little divas and it's okay! :-)

They can come invade my place any time! Oops, no water here, maybe they better not come.

I read a book years ago about a pair of Trumpeter Swans. The book was about an older lady coming to terms with her life and how the swans helped her get a new lease on live. The swan's devotion to one another was amazing.

Invasive, yes. Unwanted? Maybe not.

Did I tell you we had a flock of Cedar Waxwings at our birdbath last week? Unfortunately I was NOT home...I WAS at work dag gone it. Hubby said they emptied the bird bath once. He went out to fill it up and back they came. He did not see them any more. Whoppee I hope they return on their way South this fall. I might miss them but it will not be because I'm at work. LOL
