Hungry Much?
Do you think that this might be why I'm going through about ten pounds of niger seed a week? The Goldfinches, obviously, have now lost almost all of their yellow color, and will be drab and brown through the winter.
I had to refill my 'finch-feeder' this morning too--They are really gobbling it up, which is just fine! I'm also trying to decide where I want to put the new ones for the winter...
I sure do miss the Goldfinches brilliant summer colors. Good news is the Cardinals will be fire engine red soon. I do enjoy them sitting in the leafless trees. My birds are eating the sunflower seeds like there is no tomorrow. I have it in two feeders then a general bird mix for Songbirds.
Too funny about your cats. Madi is not at all vocal during her night crazies. Madi and Mom
...I have a similar feeder, but it died this spring. The goldfinches always loved it. I painted a watercolor of a similar scene (only the feeder was snow covered...)!
Oh my goodness, we don't have near the Goldfinches you do, but then dear Oliver cat seems to like the yellow color, and drives most of them away. The niger seed is not cheap either, it surely wouldn't go very far, with all of your visitors :)

they look as though they have been superglued on to that feeder!!!
You have a real flock! Fun winter visitors.
Oh my goodness!
Did the cat sitter do a better job this time? I hope so.
Such a great post. Love to see all the birds being fed at once!
