Out of My Rear Window 4/3/11

It's starting out to be a beautiful day here, but will cloud up and start to rain, later in the day.  Like the new addition, on the right?  That's a bird waterer.  I saw it in Lowe's this week and couldn't resist.  I think that the smaller birds will like it because it will be easier for them to get a drink than in the bigger bird bath.

Who's hanging around this morning?  Well, the squirrels, of course.

A handsome grackle

A pretty mourning dove.
And, the ever-present horde of common redpolls.
A few of whom decided to prove me wrong about small birds and birdbaths.  I like the way the one little lady seems to be admiring her reflection in the water.
All in all, a lovely day in the neighborhood.  I hope that your day is lovely, too.

You've got a squirrel horde!!
I saw that bird waterer, but I'll have to wait until we stop freezing overnight.

I saw that same bird waterer and considered it, but we get so much wind here I figured it'd be tipping out all over the place...

I know both you and all the birds will be happy when spring finally arrives.

I laughed when I saw the redpolls. It was like a bird here, a squirrel here, a bird here, omg, a riot of redpolls!

That made me laugh ! john can talk -he feeds the whole of Trelawnydd `s
starling population [by accident of course !] That grackle is very unusual-love the iridescent shine to his coat-it looks like he`s been dipped in oil !

Louise...we think a like...I have the same small water fountain. I found it at Lowe's for 3.99 several months ago. I thought it was a steal at that price and the small birds love it!! You will enjoy watching them.

Oh my goodness it is good to see ground and sun up your way. You have a bird gorging party going on at that one feeder.

Love this 'view'! We had to stop feeding the birds due to 'unwanted' visitors!!!!!

I really need to get out my feeders and start seeing what visitors I get. I stopped because we were having turkies just tear up everything, but I haven't seen them for a long while. Those squirrels are kind of cute.

What a lovely day and backyard. It looks like springtime!

I like the idea of the waterer. I've noticed, every year, that our hummingbirds like to hover just above my misting waterer for the veggie garden, and I keep thinking that I should make them their very own misting watering site!

I have gush along with you about our country. It's amazing how beautiful it is!!!!

Morning Louise....
I was surprised to find my little hanging water container on the ground this morning. Well the tray part. You know it screws on so I don't know how it fell. I don't know if something big landed on it. We had a lot of wind yesterday I guess the wind could have blown it enough to loosen it.
the clear part was still hanging on the chain....very odd.

I love the little waterer, I am going to look for one. The ladies seem much more interested in eating than the date they brought along, as it should be :).
