Out of My Rear Window 11/28/10

Dark and cold and still today.  I had a great picture, with lots of birds, from my rear window, but, somehow, it got corrupted and I had to delete it.   Here's a picture of my bird bath.  First time I have seen ice form on it.  I don't worry about it in the Winter, as we're very near the Bay and birds can get water there.  Besides, it seems to be mainly the squirrels that use it.

We had a hard frost and ice on the birdbaths here in Texas yesterday too. The poor little goldfinches were trying to drink so I kept pouring more water in, trying to melt the ice a bit. Luckily the sun came out and took care of it rather quickly. This morning, no frost, but plenty nippy with a sharp wind to keep you moving.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Very cold here this morning too, but is warming up nicely. It is the end of November after all. Ahh, to be in Southern California!

Have a Happy Sunday!

Cold here too but no ice yet, thank goodness. We have water flowing in the branches (streams) year round so no birdbaths.

Hi Louise! The weather turned cold here in VA too--I even saw a few snow flakes, which I promptly sent back to where they came from. I've been wondering if the number of birds at the feeder are an indication of the weather to come--I've heard it said that they are--I'm in trouble if so, we have been bombarded with them--I even saw my first wren who is so cute!

I also enjoyed reading your tribute to your Father--Thanks for sharing him with us!

It was downright chilly in Dixie this morning..thus far we've only had frost one morning and not froze fountains!!!

I so enjoyed the post about your Dad....our parents were from a very hearty stock. I hope and pray I can have the strength and faith my parents have when I'm their age (81 and 82)

I just came in from filling up my bird feeders and putting out suet. I CANNOT get any good pictures of my birds from inside. If I go out they scatter. Yesterday we had Flickers visiting several times. I love them.
Hugs Madi and Mom

Freezing here with a snow storm last night. I'm waiting to see snow out your window. I bet you aren't because once it comes there, it doesn't just melt like here, right?--Inger

I think that's the first time I haven't seen birds out your window!

Lovely birdbath. That reminds me that I need to start maintaining our bird bath now because birds tend to stay close to 'home' and the bird feeders with winter here. I've been noticing that the ravens are taking over the water buckets at the barn because we have to go up there twice a day to break the ice.

Mike is taking a hammer to the water buckets each morning. We also have heated water buckets but we need more water available than we have in heated buckets. You have a lovely yard.

What a wonderful place to walk. So pretty that you could walk in circles and not get bored. Those paths look so inviting.
