Critters

Yup, my yard is still overrun with critters.  From my old friends the turkeys, to geese, chipmunks and squirrels, here is a view of one day and what I may see looking out of the windows of my old house.

This Turkey Lady decided it was time for her beauty bath.  Uh, she kind of needs it.
Meanwhile, I have, again this year, been visited by the Canada Geese.  This year, there are eight of them, and they are a real nuisance.  My yard is full of poop, and I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to quit putting food on the ground for a while, until they give up and go away.  It's a pity that they are such a messy bird, though, because they are really beautiful.

But small mammals are equally well represented.  This chipmunk was cracking me up.  I've seen squirrels on the sunflower seed feeders before, but, never chipmunks on the niger seed feeders.  It must only take 90 gazillion of them to fill those little cheeks.

Rachael was very interested in this little guy, right outside of the window, too.
Squirrels, oh yeh, there were squirrels, too.  Very determined, as always, and very successful, too.

Oh yes, I love my old house, and the critters that visit.  Minus the Geese.

I've stopped putting food out for right now because the Redwing Blackbirds that are chasing everyone off--It's a shame and I miss the birds, but you've given me a 'bird fix' so I'm happy!! :-)

PS: Aunt Dottie's Asters are doing great in their new home!

I think your critters need to participate in the critter olympics! Those are some moves they make. Just how does the chipmunk get up to the feeder?!

Yes indeed the geese are messy. This time of year (when I was working) it was always a challenge to get into the building. I had to play hopscotch over the poop!

And in my humble opinion they need to drop Canada from their name. I don't think any of them live in Canada anymore. LOL

Other critters are alive and thriving.

Sorry I missed this post!
The photos are great! Canada Geese have that reputation and most don't encourage them because of their 'mess'.
It's been so long since I have seen a Chipmunk.....where did they go? Now squirrels now are everywhere!
How is your 'summer' going?

In Brooklyn's Prospect Park the Federal Government "exterminated" hundreds of Canada Geese last summer. This caused so much outrage that this year they brought in geese scaring dogs and oiled their eggs so there would be less geese.

The outrages don't understand that geese are an invasive species that were poisoning the (man made) lake.

Wish I had chipmunks instead of squirrels on the feeder! At least they're cuter and (probably) eat less.

Hi, I hopped over from Jim at Ocean Breezes, and after reading your words and looking at your super photos, and seeing so many of the blogs that are on my list are also on yours, I am adding you to my list. Love your critter pics, we do not have any so lovely here in NZ, so I enjoy them all the more. Greetings from Jean.

I used to read your blog faithfully, but then Blogger did one of their disappearing blog lists and when it came back, you were gone! So I was at TexWisGirl and there you were. So I am happy to see things are fine with you, and that only the Honkers are unwelcome.

All best wishes,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat

Do you ever go back and check for blog comments I wonder. I miss you lots, hope you get this message. For the first time since I moved here, we have chipmunks too. They are very entertaining. Hope all is well with you, the horse and the kitties.
