You have to see the incomparable beauty of the Great Smokies to really appreciate it, but I hope that my pictures give you some idea.
Lovely Trails
Almost impossibly clean mountain streams.
A lovely lake surrounded by mountains that take your breath away.
We're so lucky, here in the US, that generations before us have made the effort to preserve the natural wonders that exist in this vast and varied country of ours. I hope that we, and the generations that follow us, remember that this pristine beauty is part of us, and who we are.

Lovely. I especially like that fifth one, of the mountain stream. Looks like a Robert Woods painting that my parents used to have over the chesterfield.
Looks like you had a lovely vacation. Thanks for bringing us along with your photos of this place of exquisite natural beauty.
Oh my goodness your post is gorgeous and I thank you for honoring and loving the beauty of my native NC as much as I do...
just beautiful...we are so glad you had a good visit.
By chance did you get to Joyce Kilmer National Park? The first picture reminded me of it.

Great tour, and nice to have you back!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Stunning pics. Thanks for sharing.
really beautiful! my favorite - the one that made me say 'oh wow!' out loud - was the shot of the stream into the sun. whew!
Beautiful ! my kind of territory-give me some walking boots and I`d be off !
Louise, you are so right about preserving stunning and beautiful places like this! Your pictures are just stunning and remind me of why I love this part of the country--Could you have had any better weather??
I bet you shoofled through those leaves
:-D
A trip down memory lane for me. Thanks, Louise.
Beautiful country and your words are so wise.
Thanks for this introduction to the Great Smokies! I can't believe the beauty there. What a treasure.
Magnificent!
Beautiful pictures. They make me homesick. We have some property in the NC mountains. It is beautiful in its seclusion. We used to camp there with the boys and it is chock full of memories. Maybe some day we will build a mountain retreat there. Who knows!
I couldn't agree more about how we are benefiting from what past generations chose to preserve. I hope that we do the same for future generations.
Glorious photos. Your photos of the stream are particularly striking. It seems as if there must be lots of water in the Smokies!
What a tour! The beauty is breathtaking! Wonderful photos!
What gorgeous pictures!
