Duckies

Another video?  Well, yes, afraid so.  I finally got one of the Mallard ducks last night.  I was afraid it was too dark, and you can definitely tell it's dusk.  But, I think you can see what's going on.

I've had chickens, turkeys, and geese but no ducks, they're fun to watch.

It must cost you an absolute fortune in bird seed ! but worth the enjoyment and knowledge that you are helping all your critters to survive the bad weather ! you big softie !x

That certainly is a lot of ducks! They probably cleaned you out! Ever think about getting some duck feed from the feed store and offer it on dry days? How much bird seed and cracked corn do you (the critters) go through is, say, a week?

Great entertainment!

I like the cracked corn better than duck food, Sharon, because then the squirrels, mourning doves, turkey ladies, etc., can eat it also. Besides, cracked corn is about the cheapest thing you can get, though it is going up in price.

I don't buy bird seed, but, rather, buy sunflower seeds. I started doing that when I found that the birds were shoveling the other seeds onto the ground and out of the way, to get to the sunnies. I figured that, with all of the waste, I was better off just buying the sunflower seeds.

I probably go through a 50 lb bag of sunnies and two 50 lb bags of cracked corn every three weeks. Luckily, we have a wonderful local store around here where we can get this stuff much cheaper than at chains like Tractor Supply.

cracked corn is the best for the ground birds and the BOSS and Niger are a worthy investment for the finches and "everyone else".

This is a great video, at about 7 seconds the duck on the left makes a less than graceful landing, otherwise that is one tight flock.

That's a lot of ducks! I bet there's no seed left on the ground :)

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness! I really enjoyed that! I wish they'd come visit me.
By the way, congratulations on 1 year of retirement.
